Ambrose University has on-site or on-line professional counsellors to help you navigate a wide range of concerns that impact your academic performance and your overall well-being. Short term, solution-focused counselling may include relationship concerns, stress, loneliness, depression, anxiety or addictions.
Counselling Services begin after classes start for each semester and go to the end of final exams. Sessions are booked two weeks apart and a maximum of two sessions can be booked at a time.
Ambrose Counselling is located in the main building, upstairs, by the faculty offices, room # L2098.
- Students must be registered for classes during the semester they are accessing counselling
- 7 free counselling sessions/student/academic year
- Please stay tuned for our cost per session after the initial 7 free sessions.
- Please stay tuned for our No-show charge rate (for sessions cancelled/rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment time).

Tola Gbalajobi
Tola is passionate about human connection and helping clients discover strengths they didn’t know they had. She creates a safe, person-centered space using mindfulness and narrative therapy, where clients feel seen, heard, and understood.
Drawing from her own journey, Tola emphasizes the importance of self-care—such as therapy, mindfulness, and rest—and brings this understanding to support her clients in developing healthy habits for lasting growth.
Outside of work, Tola enjoys spending time with friends and her puppy, Pope.
Amy Ohler
Amy brings over 20 years of international experience in teaching, pastoral counselling, and mentoring across diverse cultures. Her trauma-informed, empathetic approach combines modalities like IFS and CBT to help clients explore personal and relational challenges, guiding them toward growth and healing.
Passionate about creating a safe, culturally sensitive space, Amy supports clients navigating grief, identity, spiritual formation, and life transitions.
Braden Scharfenberg
Braden brings a grounded and compassionate perspective shaped by years of humanitarian work in Arctic Canada and a decade in the oil and gas industry. He’s especially skilled at supporting individuals navigating high-stress environments, creating a safe, welcoming space where clients of all backgrounds can explore their goals and work toward meaningful change.
When he’s not counselling, Braden stays active outdoors with his two dogs and enjoys connecting with family and friends through hosting and shared adventures.
Annerieke Casey
Annerieke brings a rich background working with local unhoused populations and international humanitarian projects to her trauma-informed, inclusive counselling style. She’s passionate about creating a safe, collaborative space where clients feel truly heard and empowered to discover their own strengths and navigate life’s challenges.
Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, writing, motorcycle riding, scuba diving, and spending time with her ever-growing, blended family.
Dave McPherson
Dave brings a grounded, compassionate approach to counselling, drawing from a wide range of life experience—including roles as a pastor, chaplain, and landman—before becoming a psychologist.
He’s a natural encourager who’s passionate about helping clients find clarity, express what’s hard to say, and move forward with confidence.
Outside the office, Dave and his wife keep busy with their four kids, a big dog, three sheep, and four chickens.
Flora Chan
Flora works with those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and women’s health challenges. Drawing from both clinical training and lived experience, she offers a warm, trauma-informed approach that blends evidence-based methods like CBT, EMDR, and IFS with mindfulness and breathwork.
As a counsellor and a parent, Flora is passionate about creating a grounded, compassionate space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow.
Daniel Prasad
Daniel works with individuals, offering compassionate support for challenges like relationship issues, anxiety, stress, anger, parenting, and ADHD. Known for his genuine empathy and nonjudgmental approach, he creates a space where clients feel heard and empowered to set and reach their goals.
Outside of counselling, Daniel enjoys life with his wife, two children, and their Scottish Terrier.
Counselling Procedures & Policies
- Ambrose Counselling is located in the main building, upstairs, by the faculty offices, room # L2098.
- Students must be registered for classes during the semester they are accessing counselling with this exception:
- Students who were registered in winter classes and are not registered for spring classes may book a counselling session during spring semester at a cost of $50/session.
- 7 free* counselling sessions/student/academic year
- Please stay tuned for our cost per session after the initial 7 free sessions.
- Individual counselling sessions are booked two weeks apart and maximum of two sessions can be booked at a time.
- Please book and cancel/reschedule your appointments online. Please make every effort to cancel or reschedule your appointment via this means. If you are experiencing any kind of technical difficulties with your appointment, please contact counselling@ambrose.edu.
- Please stay tuned for our No-show charge rate (for sessions cancelled/rescheduled within 24 hours of the appointment time). If there are extenuating circumstances, please contact counselling@ambrose.edu.
- Online sessions: please be aware that you must be in the province of Alberta if you would like to claim the session through your insurance.
