Position Summary

The role of the Seminary International Student Leader (ISL) is to work with the International Student Services, Student Life, and Seminary Student Leadership Team to promote a supportive atmosphere for International Students that aligns with the Ambrose Mission.

The Seminary International Student Leader role is designed for a more mature student leader and focuses less on event promotion, social media, and peer programming. Instead, this role emphasizes relationship-building, representation, and collaboration with the Seminary Student Leadership Team. The Seminary International Student Leader serves as a bridge between international Seminary students, Seminary leadership, and International Student Services, with a primary focus on listening, advocacy, and reporting emerging needs. The International Student Leader will design and implement community building events that bring international student together and provide individual supports and referrals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Intentionally connect and build relationships with international students within the Seminary
  • Serve as a point of connection between international Seminary students, the Seminary Student Leadership team, and International Student Services. 
  • Communicate key updates, concerns, and emerging needs of international Seminary students to the International Student Services Coordinator. 
  • Assist in welcoming and supporting new international Seminary students during Seminary Orientation and throughout the academic year. 
  • Support and participate in programs or gatherings relevant to international Seminary students (e.g., workshops, discussion groups, prayer gatherings, or community meals). 
  • Identify and relay academic, cultural, and practical support needs specific to international Seminary students. 
  • Collaborate with Student Life and Seminary leadership, as appropriate, to foster a welcoming and inclusive Seminary community. 
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities provided through Student Life services. These may be:
    • Student Leader Retreat: TBD
    • Student Leadership Training: TBD

    Duties and responsibilities performed within one's capabilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing.

    Reporting Relationships:

    Reports to: International and Community Engagement Coordinator 

    Supervision given: weekly meetings with supervisor 

    Compensation: There is a $1000.00 honorarium for this position. This position requires about 5 hours/week (on average) throughout the school year.
