Retail Store Assistant – Ambrose University
Ambrose University is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Retail Store Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the Ambrose University campus store. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment while delivering excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
The Retail Store Assistant plays an active role in supporting customer experience, inventory organization, merchandising, eCommerce order fulfillment, and brand engagement through in-store presentation and social media support. This position also contributes to seasonal promotions, campus events, and the overall atmosphere and success of the store.
This is a part-time hourly position working up to 20 hours per week.
This is a 10.5-month position running from August 1 to June 15 each year, with unpaid time off from June 16 to July 31.
- Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and community members
- Support daily store operations, including stocking, organizing, and merchandising
- Assist with textbook purchasing, returns, and the textbook buyback program
- Receive and manage inventory for books, clothing, and general merchandise
- Fulfill eCommerce orders for pickup or shipment
- Support instructors and students with access to eText resources through the eBook program
- Assist with website updates, social media, and digital marketing initiatives
- Support seasonal events such as Convocation and pop‑up shops
- Collaborate with the Store Manager on ordering, promotions, and brand activities
- Undergraduate degree required
- Experience in retail and customer service is an asset
- Experience with social media marketing, Canva, and photoshoots is an asset
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time‑management skills
- Personable and confident when engaging with customers
- Ability to manage inventory and meet deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- Ability to lift 30+ lbs

Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work regular store hours, with some evening and weekend shifts as needed
- The successful candidate may be required to start during the month of July for training and onboarding
