Luke Dahn, PhD
Biography
As a composer, I have had the privilege of working with many fantastic musicians and ensembles. The thrilling experience of artistic collaboration, the creative process of bringing something new to life with other artists, is the reason I compose. My works can be heard on the Albany, Bridge, and Furious Artisans labels. Teaching is my other passion, and I love that I can study great works of music alongside others for a living. I have served on music faculties at the University of Utah and at Northwestern College (IA) where I was honoured with the 2011 Teaching Excellence Award, one of my proudest achievements. My work in music theory has primarily centred on the four-part chorales of J.S.Bach, and in 2017 I created www.bach-chorales.com which houses much of that research.
My hobbies include chess, reading fiction, and playing basketball. But my favourite thing to do is to travel abroad and explore other cultures with my wife Julie and daughter Mae.
