The Finance Assistant is responsible for the completion of the day-to-day transactions and collections activities for student accounts, Ambrose’s point of sale and cash operations, non-student invoicing (receivables) to ensure compliance with Ambrose’s policies and procedures.  The Finance Assistant assists with payables, and other duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process charges, invoices and related cash receipts & payments for accounts receivable.
  • Maintain financial documentation and filing systems for cash-entries.
  • Prepare deposits and ensure timely delivery to the bank.
  • Answer student inquiries related to their account transactions or statements.
  • Ensure compliance with financial and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Review and follow-up on outstanding balances.
  • Initiate and monitor collection efforts for overdue accounts in alignment with Ambrose’s payment policies.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records and reports.
  • Support accounts reconciliations processes.
  • Ongoing support to accounts payable and provide back-up when necessary.
  • Provide efficient and courteous services to students and customers.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in business accounting or equivalent.
  • 2+ years related experience working in a Finance or Office Admin position.
  • Experience with accounts receivable and collections is a strong asset.
  • Experience in not-for-profit organizations is an asset.

Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory criminal background check and academic transcripts.
