The Campus Pastor leads the Spiritual Life team and works with the President across all divisions (Student Life, Academics, etc.) to foster the spiritual life on campus, specifically focusing on students’ spiritual development through mentorship, corporate worship, pastoral care, etc. The Campus Pastor is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing meaningful opportunities for spiritual and faith formation that align with the Ambrose vision and mission.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Steward for the spiritual life of the Ambrose campus, with a specific focus on students.
  • Provide leadership in the planning, implementation, and facilitation of a relevant and integrated chapel program for the campus community.
  • Work with the President in recruiting and curating key internal and external voices for our students through spiritual life programs, chapels, and events.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate paid staff and student volunteers in the Spiritual Life department.
  • Provide spiritual care and counselling to the members of the Ambrose community.
  • Lead the planning and execution of Deeper Life Day, Pastor’s Conference, Day of Prayer, etc., as well as other campus-wide events that foster spiritual vitality on campus.
  • Coordinate in conjunction with the Manager, Audio Visual Services: Sound and Video personnel for chapel and event production, working with Campus Services personnel for chapel set-up and tear-down.
  • Work with the Communications department to effectively promote Spiritual Life events.
  • Actively interface with the Student Life team and various Faculties, as well as serve on committees as required.
  • Offer guidance to the Athletics department in fostering a robust Athletics chaplaincy program.
  • In coordination with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the appropriate Dean(s), teach up to two classes per year.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A master’s degree in a ministry-related field is required. Doctorate degree or terminal degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of leadership in a pastoral ministry context, gifted in the areas of music, worship leading, leadership, and administration.
  • Experience planning events, worship experiences, leading corporate worship, and team development.
  • Be a licensed worker with the Alliance Canada (ordination preferred) or an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene.

Skills

  • Have significant experience and proficiency in leading worship and developing worship teams.
  • Organized, detail-driven, and administrative proficient as this position would involve (with administrative support) programming, recruiting, volunteer management, service planning, event planning, etc.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor students.
  • Proven ability to work effectively and supervise staff (Spiritual Life staff), student leaders, and volunteers.
  • Proven ability to work and lead collaboratively with others, building consensus and buy-in.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Able to appropriately exercise independent judgement, discretion, and confidentiality when responding to sensitive issues, complaints, and student issues.
  • Display a high level of intercultural competence in working with a multicultural student and staff population.

  • A compensation package commensurate with education and experience is available.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background criminal check and academic transcripts.
