Shaunna

Ecuador

My name is Shaunna and I am in Quito, Ecuador! I was born in Toronto, but I now call Calgary home. I have been at Ambrose for three years and will be back in September to complete my Ministry degree. Here in Quito I am working in an Alliance dorm for missionary children. There are ten high-school students in this dorm whom I am serving and working with on a daily basis. I will be in Ecuador for eight months and will attempt to learn some Spanish during this time. I am so excited to serve God in this way and discover all of the ways he wants to shape me and use me here in this beautiful and wonderful country!

Andrew

LAN Asia

I am 22 years old, living in a different country doing language studies at a university. I hope to learn more about this country’s culture so that I can relate to the people here. I have a passion to do my Father's occupation, and look forward to all the opportunities that are opened to me in my near future. I love to read and write, have an interest in talking with people and learning about their experiences. I hope that my time in another country will benefit my understanding of the world and expand my horizons. Please pray for me as I never like to do things alone.

I come from a wonderful green city in Saskatchewan. I am a diehard roughriders fan and proud of it! Regina is my home base, and I love God's creation there! I love the opportunity of going overseas and working with people! I have a personal relationship with my Lord and Saviour and will not leave that behind wherever I go! I know I have the most amazing parents and brothers a girl could ask for so it is never easy leaving them behind! This past semester I prepared to go to Egypt for my 9 month internship. I am here and made it safe and pray that God will do heaps of work in my life! It is never easy but I know without a shadow of a doubt that God goes before me! I am studying Arabic and participating in many different aspects of ministry here!

I was born in Kirksville, Missouri, USA making me the only U.S. citizen heading out from the school this year. I grew up in the Seattle area and have been involved with missions since spending a year travelling with my family in Central America, where we worked with Mercy Ships. I am excited for the chance to fully devote myself to ministry, and I feel this Onsite will give me some great experience for the years to come. I will be working with a team, entering into communities there and seeking to build bridges of trust to share Christ to the people of Mexico City. Please pray for me as I work to spread the good news of Christ.

Nathan and Kara

We are a newly married couple (9 months) from Calgary. Nathan is from Whitby, Ontario and Kara is from all across Canada, but we’ve made Calgary our home. We feel that God has led us to Mexico City to work with the FUSION team there. Nathan is hoping to be working with the short-term missions teams coming in from Canada and the US, as well as doing some church and coffee shop ministry. Kara is leaning more towards the administration side of things, as well as teaching English, and working with children in some capacity. We will learn Spanish for the first several weeks we are there. We are very excited at this opportunity God has blessed us with.

I don’t know where I call home, but I grew up in Japan and now have come to love Canada, too. This year I am is in a limited access nation, doing relief and development in the region where a large earthquake hit it recent years. This involves doing teacher training with several Muslim and Christian schools, building projects, and the early stages of community development. I am extremely excited to see what this year holds for me here in LAN Asia!

Will

Quebec

I am from Edmonton, Alberta. I have attended Ambrose since 2003 and I am in a BTh—Intercultural. I enjoy hanging out with people and golfing. Currently, I am on onSite in Quebec City, and I am working with a couple of missionaries helping as much as I can with the youth group. The onSite program is an excellent way of putting what I have learned in class out on the field. Experiencing a different culture and language is teaching me more of who God wants me to be, helps me have a better idea of where He wants me to be and enables me to better understand the global perspective of missions.

Jon and Kristen

Poland

Hi we are Jon and Kristen Young! We have both felt God's call on our lives to enter into cross cultural ministry and are beginning to pursue that through our Onsite experience. We are currently serving in Poland with C&MA missionaries Don and Betty Orr. We have already completed a five week intensive language study and have entered into ministry. While we are in Poland we will be leading the youth group, apprenticing youth leaders, teaching English, building relationships, taking Polish tutoring, and observing how church plants are developed in the Polish context among other things. We are very excited to be a part of the work God is doing in Poland.
