What is the Orientation Waiver Form?

The waiver form is actually two forms.  The first is a liability waiver, this excuses Ambrose from fault if you are injured during orientation.  Of course we make every effort for that not to happen and we will have first aid trained volunteers on site as well as an emergency plan in place.  It is necessary to sign this form in order to participate in orientation.  The second the photo waiver gives Ambrose permission to use pictures of you in promotional materials - such as next year's orientation brochures or website.  It is not necessary to sign this to participate in orientation, but it is appreciated.

Who should come to orientation?

Everyone! There are separate programs for undergrad, seminary and parents so there is something for everyone! Check out the menu tabs on the Orientation main page to see what is going on for each.  Mature students over the age of 25 in undergrad programs do not have programs specifically designed for them.  Games day may not be suitable for mature students, but the morning and lunch sessions on campus orientation day are - Friday, Sept 12.

Should my parents or family come with me?

Yes. There are specific events and resources for parents during orientation that address their needs and questions. To learn more check out the Parent and Families section on the Orientation home page.

Where should I go when I get to the campus?

There will be volunteers on the main floor of the academic building to direct you to where you need to go!  Please park and then enter the main building.  Leave it to us to make it clear where to go from there.

When do I need to show up for Orientation?

If you are moving into Residence on September 11th, Move in day will start at 9:00am and go all day, please try to arrive before 5:00 pm.

Campus Orientation starts September 12th at 9:00am for all commuter students, residence students and parents.

The Games day on Saturday, Sept. 13 starts at 10:00 am in the main academic building.

Project Ambrose will be a student wide event starting at 7:00 pm on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Where is Orientation?

Everyday begins in the main academic building on Campus. 150 Ambrose Circle.  All activities will be within a two block radius of campus.  Arrive at the posted start times and you will have no problem finding us.

What do I need for the Campus Orientation Day on Thursday?

Just yourself!  You will receive your orientation package at orientation, or if you are a residence student you will receive it when you move in.  Please register for orientation ahead of time.

What do I need to bring to the Games Day?

It would be a good idea to bring a change of clothes and shoes in case you get wet (but don't worry - you don't need to get wet), a water bottle, and sunscreen.  Be sure to check the weather forecast and dress for an outdoor day.

What should I Wear?

On campus orientation day please wear what's comfortable.  On games day we're going to be playing games, running shoes would be your best bet, other than that dress for the weather.

Will I be fed during the Orientation days or do I need to bring/buy a lunch?

You bet! All students will be provided lunch on Friday and Saturday - our campus orientation and games day.  Residence students will need to get there meal cards when they arrive on campus so that they can use the cafeteria during orientation and throughout the semester.

If I need to pay tuition and register for classes  what should I bring?

If possible please register for classes before orientation day.  There will be time during orientation, but limited amounts of time.  Avoid the line ups and do it ahead of time!  You can also pay tuition fees before orientation or on residence move in day to avoid line ups.  Bring whatever papers you have so far, so if you have registered for classes and need to pay, bring your registration papers. If you have nothing just bring yourself! Be sure though to bring your method of payment, be it credit card, cheque etc.  You must pay before the first day of classes!

If I haven't paid or registered for classes before I come to orientation where should I go?

Registration can be done at the registrar and finance offices during Orientation. These offices will be pointed out on your campus tour or you can ask one of our friendly student volunteers to direct you.  There will not be a time set aside so it will be done on your own time.

Where do I buy textbooks?

Textbooks will be available for purchase on campus. The store will be located on the second floor of the campus! This will be pointed out to you on your campus tour.

What if it Rains?

All events will go as planned if it rains, events will be adjusted so that the rain won't prevent us from having fun!

Where do I pick up my student ID card?

It can be picked up at campus services on the first floor of the academic building.  You will be directed by student volunteers there to pick up this important item.

Will every activity at the games day be physical?

There will be a variety of activities included at the Oversized Olympics where you will compete against other new student teams. However, none of them will require "traditional" athletic skill.  There will be worship and a speaker at the end of the day so there will be some physical activity as well as some downtime!

I don't live in residence what events should I come to?

All the events! Every event is open to off campus students as well as resident students! However, you do not need to be on campus on Thursday for the Residence move in day, unless you are moving in.
