Spiritual Emphasis Day with Rev Dale Lang

Spiritual Emphasis Day with Rev Dale Lang

news

October 25, 2007 - On October 22 classes were closed as members of the Ambrose community gathered for Spiritual Emphasis Day. Since Dale's son Jason was killed on April 28th 1999 in a copycat Columbine-style High School shooting, Dale Lang has chosen to ensure that Jason's life and death makes a lasting difference for other Canadian young people and adults. Jason Lang died when he was shot by a 14-year-old boy at W.R. Myers High School in Taber, Alta. Rev Lang, an ordained Anglican priest, heads a ministry called Solid Rock Youth and Family Foundation. He has spoken to over 250,000 youth across Canada.

Dale spoke about the day Jason died and his journey toward forgiveness of his killer. He talked about the "story behind the story" which was his experience of personal spiritual renewal just months before the tragedy. Dale credits a re-born intimacy with Jesus as the power that got him through the ordeal and allowed him to forgive. He then reminded students, faculty and staff that freedom in Jesus means laying down our wills daily to follow him.

The day concluded with a ministry of prayer and a time of communion. Ambrose is thankful for Dale's ministry to the campus community.
