Cover of Spring Anthem Draws Mixed Response

news

May 15, 2008 - The recent issue of anthem, the magazine of Ambrose University College focused on the changing landscape of cross-cultural missions. Some of our readers questioned the cover which featured a well dressed young man sitting in an eastern meditative pose; with a picture of this same individual on the inside cover working on his laptop. We want to thank those of you who gave us feedback about this cover and questioned its appropriateness. So a word of explanation is in order.

The young man is not representative of our students. Our intention was to portray the young man on the cover as representative of the type of person whom our graduates will reach with the gospel. We are educating students to enable them sit on the bench beside people like the young man portrayed and help them discover a relationship with Jesus.

However, for some of our readers these photos came across at best as ambiguous in their portrayal of what Ambrose is all about and perhaps some readers were outrightly offended and left with questions about the direction of Ambrose. If so, we sincerely apologize. Sometimes the illustration can overpower the message it was intended to convey.

Our passion is to educate students who will be able to minister the good new of the gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that is searching for Truth.

Finally, we welcome your continued feedback about our anthem articles, stories and photos. You can reach the Editor of anthem at kfollis@ambrose.edu.
