Move Preparations Underway as Campus Nears Completion

May 29, 2008 - As the move-in date for the new campus approaches, both current and new campuses are hives of activity.

Student Development Admin Assistant, Kaitlin Didier, is packing up her office area in preparation for the move to the new campus.

At the downtown campus, Director of Moving, Chris Boelcke, with our crew of summer students is working with library staff to pack the library, taking inventory of furnishing and equipment for moving to the new campus or disposal, and providing packing materials for faculty and staff who are responsible for packing their own offices. Our business faculty vacated their offices April 30 due to the end of our lease of that space and will work in temporary offices until the move.

The library is scheduled to be moved about July 7 followed by the faculty offices which will be located on the second level of the library building. By August 5 we hope that most furniture and equipment will be relocated to the new campus facilities.

On the new campus, the sidewalks around the library are poured. The exterior of the building is 80% complete with a few areas yet to be stuccoed. The monument signs are clad in tindal stone, tile is being laid, 90% of the drywall is complete, the gym is painted, hardwood for the gym floor is curing in preparation for installation in about a month, and library millwork and painting is being completed. The first shipment of armoires for the residence is scheduled for delivery early in June for installation in the bedrooms.

Over all things are going well and are on schedule. Naturally, there is much to do but we are encouraged by all that is getting completed on both sites. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of our construction team and the campus personnel.
