Ambrose MK Prepares to Reach Japanese Youth

news

July 21, 2008 - Andrew Love, a missionary's son, raised in Japan, has been preparing for his post secondary education.

At Love's high school, seniors have to pick a global issue to focus on. Love spent the year working on a study of issues related to social rejection in Japan. During the year he worked with psychologist Dr. Yuichi Hattori, at his clinic in Sayama City, Saitama.

Dr. Hattori is known for his work with Hikkomori Syndrome. Hikkomori is a Japanese term that refers to individuals who have chosen to withdraw from a social life; often they seek extreme measures of isolation.

The study was a lot of work but in the end gave Love a new passion and direction for his years after high school. Love wants to become a psychologist and return to Japan to work with Dr. Hattori counseling youth that suffer form hikkomori.

Love will be attending Ambrose University College in the fall, and is enroled in the Behavioural Science Program.
