November 15th Bake Sale Funds Adopt-A-Family at the Sonshine Centre

news

November 13, 2007 - The past few years, the Ambrose community (assisted by the BHS 320 Practicum class) ‘adopts' families from the Sonshine Centre. This year, the money raised will go to two projects:

  • Sonshine Centre: Christmas Store - Buy gifts to help stock a Christmas store at the Sonshine Centre. Children living at the women's shelter will "shop" in this store and pick out a gift to give their Mom on Christmas morning, providing them an opportunity they would not otherwise have.
  • Calgary Catholic Immigration Society: Refugee Family - Buy (desperately needed) basic household items and gifts for a family originally from Burma. They have been living in a Thai refugee camp for 12 years, and have recently been able to move to Calgary. Through CCIS and our practicum student, they are learning about and settling into life in Canada.

Thursday, November 15 Ambrose will hold its annual bake sale & silent auction to raise funds for these Christmas projects. Like last year, individual baked goods & coffee will be for sale, as well as whole items on silent auction. We need your help to make this happen! Please consider baking something to donate to the sale, and plan to come to the 7th floor on November 15 with some cash to buy some goodies - it's an easy way to get some Christmas baking done!

Donations are welcomed by cash or credit card at any time between now and November 30. The Ambrose finance office has kindly agreed to help with this project, and they will receive your anonymous donation until the end of November.

Please contact Kim McLachlan by Monday, November 12 if you will be contributing baking to the sale, and contact Kim or Alex Sanderson if you have any questions about this project.

Thank you for your support!
