Strong Giving to the Campaign for Ambrose in 2007
January 21, 2007 - In 2007 gifts totaled $4,984,629. New pledges of $5,351,459 were received toward the campaign to fund the new campus for Ambrose. Over 2,000 individuals and 220 churches have now provided gifts or made pledges to the campaign.
Gordon Dirks, Chair of the Campaign for Ambrose expressed satisfaction with progress made in 2007 toward the overall campaign goal of $36 M.
"Throughout 2007, hundreds of churches and individuals supported the campaign," Dirks said. "It has been very gratifying to see a consistently growing level of support."
To date, campaign pledges, cash received and other sources of projected revenue total $21.75 M. The goal for 2008 is to raise $4.25 million in new gifts and pledges. If this goal is reached, and if all outstanding pledges are fully paid, the institution will move onto the new campus with a mortgage of $10 M that will be serviced by funds presently used to pay lease payments on our temporary downtown Calgary campus.
During the month of December the campaign gained momentum as a result of major gifts which included:
- A $50,000 donation from a Calgary philanthropist
- Pledges of $50,000 and $30,000 from districts of the Church of the Nazarene Canada
- A gift of $65,000 from an Alliance church
- Numerous individual contributions
Last year, in support of the Campaign for Ambrose, a number of people donated publicly traded securities to Ambrose. The gifting of shares is a very tax-attractive way to support the new campus project. The Campaign also received a pledge of $250,000 that will be realized from the pending sale of land.
