November 19, 2007 - A successful weekend saw the futsal and hockey teams win and the volleyball teams qualify for the post-season.

Women's Volleyball - The Lions opened the final regular season tournament with a 3-0 loss to first place Augustana setting up a crucial "win and you're in - lose and you're out" game against Prairie later that afternoon. The Ambrose women stepped up and dominated in a 3-0 win, securing the fourth and final playoff spot for next weekend's ACAL championships. They will face the Augustana Vikings in the semi-final.

Men's Volleyball - The men began the day with a 3-1 loss to the defending ACAL champs, Augustana Vikings. The Lions bounced back with a great effort against Prairie resulting in a 3-0 win. With the victory they secure 2nd place in the ACAL playoffs and a date with the Taylor Fire in the semi final.

The ACAL volleyball championships will be held next weekend in Camrose, AB.


Women's Futsal - The Lions opened at home against St. Mary's in a rematch of last year's ACAL finalists. The women exacted some revenge with a tight-checking 1-0 win. The team fought hard, received some solid goal keeping from Amber Locke and a timely penalty kick goal from Lori Graham to seal the victory. They evened their season record at 1-1 and play Rocky Mountain College next Saturday at 7pm at Calgary West.

Men's Futsal - The team jumped out to an early 4-1 lead over the St. Mary's Lightening, but had to hang on for a 4-3 win. Sophomores Jon Pettigrew and Dan Dasko each stepped up with 2 goals and Keeper Justin Dealy made some outstanding saves to preserve the victory. The Lions remain undefeated to start the season at 2 and 0. They will be back in action next weekend with a game against RMC at 8pm at Calgary West on Saturday.

Men's Hockey - In a rematch of the season opener with Rocky Mountain College, the Lions offense exploded with a convincing 10-0 win over the Rams. Lead by Captain Tim McAlpine's hat trick and stellar goaltending from freshman Ben Wideman, the Lions demonstrated that they are for real. The team will be back in action next weekend when they face RMC again Saturday night at Crowfoot Arena.
