Ambrose Seminary and the Western Canadian District of CMA-Canada teamed up recently to offer a lifelong learning event entitled WWWChurch.  While in the Ambrose Seminary calendar the course is called, Missions in the Local Church (WM 645.2), it was renamed WWWChurch (world-wide work of the Church) to also attract non-credit participants from local churches .  The course was offered off-campus at Sherwood Park Alliance Church.

Participants included church elders, a pastor, mission committee members and other global point people. Eight people enrolled, one taking it for Ambrose Seminary credit.

The course offered in a two weekend format had a major emphasis on short term missions which was resourced by Dr Charles Cook of Ambrose and Beulah Alliance Missions pastor, Eric Persson, providing the Beulah Alliance Church model. Participants gained insights and went away with sample documents and templates to improve their STM programs.

On the second weekend, Mar 13-14, there was a focus on enhancing the local church's missions program. Mission committee chair, Dr Paula Yeung, of South Edmonton Chinese Church and Rev Graham English of Stony Plain Alliance Church provided local case studies. A relief and development unit with an Indonesia case study was taught by Dave Ingram (Samaritan's Purse) and Dr Joost Pikkert (Taylor Seminary). Ambrose International Worker in Residence Ron B instructed on connecting with and supporting workers in creative access countries.

Course lectures included sections on: missions across the street and around the world, a theology of suffering and risk, caring for international workers, a theology and history of missions.

WWWChurch was designed and facilitated by Dave Ingram, Africa Projects Director for Samaritan's Purse and Dr Ron Brown, Missions Coach with the Western Canadian District.
