Recent Budget Changes for Donations of Publicly-Listed Securities

When a taxpayer donates publicly-listed securities (including mutual funds and segregated funds) to an eligible charity, the capital gains inclusion rate which was 25% has been reduced to zero for such donations made on or after May 2, 2006.

(The shares must not be sold and the cash given, but must be transferred to the receiving charity brokerage account from the donor.)
