U-Pass Frequently Asked Questions
Please be patient while we are updating our website for the move to our new campus in September 2008.
- What is the U–Pass?
Ambrose University College have contracted with Calgary Transit to allow students universal access to transit services. Included as part of your student fees, the Universal Transit Pass, or U–Pass gives you unlimited access to Calgary's extensive transportation system. This is especially convenient for college students since our conveniently located downtown campus is three blocks from the C–Train station. Last but not least, the U–Pass is inexpensive, about one third the cost of a standard transit pass providing Ambrose students with convenient and reliable transportation. - Who is eligible to receive the U–Pass?
Students registered at Ambrose taking at least 9 credit hours in a given semester will be automatically charged the U–Pass fee. The fee will be charged to your student finance account. - I have no need of the Transit pass and do not feel that I should be charged for something I will not use.
This mandatory fee pays for a service benefiting the majority of Ambrose students. If for some reason you cannot utilize your regular mode of transportation, or during inclement weather, isn’t it nice to know you have an alternative? - Is there any way I can transfer my U–Pass to another person?
This pass is strictly non–transferable. It is important to note that any card believed to be fraudulently used or altered will be immediately confiscated by Calgary Transit authorities and turned over to Ambrose for further action. You may be asked at any time to present your U–Pass to Calgary Transit security.
The pass will be checked closely to ensure the ID picture and U–Pass sticker is correct. - Is the U–Pass valid only to travel to the College?
No, the pass is valid anytime; anywhere the Calgary Transit system (buses or C–Train) operates. One of the many benefits of the pass is that it can be used for all your activities—not just connecting to and from the College. - When is the Ambrose U–Pass valid?
A new U–Pass will be issued each semester:
- Fall semester 2007 (September-December) valid until January 9/08
- Winter semester 2007 (January-April) valid until April 30/08 - What if I lose my ID card with my transit sticker on it?
You will be charged $10 for a new card and $25 for a new U–Pass. - What if the U–Pass sticker is damaged is or is removed from my ID card?
If the sticker is damaged or removed, you will be charged $25 for a replacement sticker. - How do I get my U-Pass?
U-Pass's are available at reception on the 6th floor or the Campus Services office, room 611—you must have a valid ID card.
ID card production is available during regular office hours. - What will happen if I ride the Transit system with an expired U-Pass?
You will be presented with a fine by the Transit Security authorities.
Please Note: Although you have been automatically charged for the U–Pass, it is your responsibility to pick-up the sticker at the Campus services office. The U-Pass will be applied to your current student ID card. Any questions or concerns regarding the U–Pass should be emailed to campuservices@ambrose.edu.
The U–Pass is an Ambrose privilege so please remember to be kind and courteous to all Calgary Transit employees.
