Campus Policies

Campus Policies

Students must obtain a copy of their financial report, which should contain the initials of a Finance official, before seeking help from Campus Services. This report may be received at the Finance Office on the 6th floor.

Identification Cards

To obtain a student ID card, Campus Services requires a copy of the student's financial report. After showing this form to Campus Services, the student's picture will be taken and an ID card issued.

Note: If a card is stolen or misplaced, there will be a fee to issue a new card.

U–Pass for Calgary Transit

All students are required to purchase this transit pass through regular student fees. After receiving a student ID, the U–Pass will be added to the card and will be effective for only one semester. It is the student's responsibility to come to Campus Services to receive a new pass for the second semester.

Note: Once the school year has ended, no passes will be issued. Modular students must obtain transit passes elsewhere.

Mail Keys

Upon registration, students are assigned a student mailbox. The mailboxes are on the 7th Floor near the Student Development lounge area. A Key is given to each student for their mailbox from Campus Services. Keys are not to be transferred to another student, neither are copies to be made. In the event of a stolen or misplaced mailbox key, the student will be charged $10 to receive a replacement key from Campus Services. At the end of the school year keys must be returned to Finance or a $10 fee will be charged to a student's account.

For the fall of 2008, only residence students will have a student mailbox on the new campus in the student link area.  As before students will be charged $10 to receive a replacement key from Campus Services.  At the end of the school year keys must be returned to Finance or a $10 fee will be charged to a student's account.  Other non-resident students who want a student mailbox can pay $75 per year rental fee and will be charged a $10 fee at the end of the year if the mailbox key is not returned.

Mail Service

To assist in the matter of privacy, each student is assigned a locked mailbox for the distribution of incoming mail. Out-going mail (stamped) may be deposited at the main reception on the 6th floor. Stamps are also sold at this location.

On the new campus in 2008 external mail will only be distributed into locked mailboxes (in the link area) to students with mailboxes (residence and mailbox renters).

Care of Campus Property

Supporters have generously provided funds to supply the facilities present on campus. Student tuition fees do not go toward providing buildings. Staff, faculty and students are asked to work together to maintain these facilities, using the accommodations, furnishings and equipment in a manner that will maintain and protect them.

Each student should assist in maintaining a tidy and clean campus. Rather than leaving the tasks of picking up litter and cleaning the washrooms only to cleaning staff, each student should do what needs to be done when a need is observed.

The Campus will be strict concerning misuse or damage of property resulting from negligence, carelessness or a deliberate disregard of rules. Those responsible will be subject to the full cost of the repair or replacement of damaged property.

Campus property (furniture, equipment etc.) may not be moved from its designated place for any reason without proper authorization from the Campus Services Office.

Use of Campus Equipment

Students are not permitted to use campus equipment for personal needs. This includes such items as faculty/staff computers, office equipment, office phones, vehicles, paper, supplies, etc. Staff members are instructed to not use college equipment (especially faculty/staff computers and printers) on behalf of a student who may wish to hire their services.

Campus E–mail Use Policy

A student's Ambrose account may not be used for sending bulk email or unsolicited emails. If there is information that you feel should be communicated to the rest of the student body, faculty and staff then please speak with the Student Development Administrative Assistant.

Abuse of Ambrose email will result in suspension of computer privileges.

Computer Access

Student computer labs and commons are available to all students who have paid the Library and Information Technology fee for the current semester. Fire

It is a serious offence to tamper with the fire prevention equipment. This equipment is for the protection of all students and improper use could result in prosecution.

General Procedure in case of fire:

  1. Sound alarm in building. A CONTINUOUS ALARM WILL INDICATE A FIRE EMERGENCY.
  2. Fire Marshalls, Faculty and student leaders are to notify everyone on their floor, including those in the Reception area. If possible, call 911.
  3. As you leave the building, do so calmly, closing all doors and turning off electrical power.
  4. No one may remain in the building even if it is known that it is only a drill. Have other students/staff present help you check all rooms to ensure everyone has heard the alarm and is able to get out.
  5. Evacuate the building as soon as possible by the nearest available exit. Alternate exit routes should be kept in mind.
  6. Stay out of the building until the alarm has been shut off and permission has been given to return by the staff member in charge.
  7. Students should become familiar with the locations of exits, fire alarms and extinguishers. Only trained individuals should operate fire–fighting equipment.
  8. Periodic fire drills will be held. Treat every fire alarm seriously and proceed on the assumption that an actual fire is in progress.
