In the sciences, one course from each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics may be presented.
English Language Requirement
All applicants, including Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents, whose primary language is not English must provide evidence of proficiency in English by meeting the following requirements:
- a minimum score of 560 on the paper-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test, or a minimum score of 83 on the internet-based (iBT) TOEFL test;

Homeschool
Canadian applicants who have been home–schooled must submit one of the following documentations of their senior matriculation:
- an official transcript from the provincial Department of Education showing proof of the required Grade 12 courses as noted under “Regular Student,” or
- a portfolio, a SAT I score of 830 or higher, or SAT Reasoning Test score of 1245 with no section test below 400, and an official transcript from their home–schooling agency showing proof of the required Grade 12 courses.
International Baccalaureate (IB) and Advanced Placement (AP)
Transfer credit or advanced standing may be given for IB or AP courses taken during the student's final year in high school. Students who have earned IB or AP credits will be evaluated individually to determine what credit, if any, they should receive. For IB, only Higher Level courses with a grade of 4,5,6 or 7 will qualify for evaluation. AP grades of 3, 4 or 5 will qualify for evaluation.
Mature Student
Applicants who are 21 years of age or older by September 30 (Fall Semester entrance) or by January 31 (Winter Semester entrance) and who do not meet normal admission requirements for Regular Student status can be considered for Mature Student status. Mature Student status is restricted to Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents.
Additional requirements may be needed for admission to specific programs. An English competency examination may be required.
Transfer Student
Applicants who have completed work at another post-secondary institution may be considered for Transfer Student Status. Such students must submit official transcripts of all post-secondary studies and will be considered for admission on one of the following bases:
- A student who has 18 earned credits or more of post-secondary studies with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher will be considered for Transfer Student status. High school standing is not considered for admission; however, official high school transcripts are required.
- A student who has less than 18 earned credits of post-secondary studies with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher will be considered for Regular Student status on the basis of high school standing; official high school transcripts are required. Transfer credit may still be granted in accordance with College transfer credit policies (see academic calendar).
- A student who has post-secondary studies with a cumulative GPA of less than 2.0, or who is on Academic Probation from the previous institution, may apply for admission on the basis of Dean’s Recommendation. Official high school transcripts are required. A student who has been required to withdraw from the previous institution for academic reasons is not permitted to register until one year has elapsed from the date the student was required to withdraw.

Unclassified Student
Unclassified student status is granted to those wishing to take courses without enrolling in a particular academic program. This status may apply to the student taking courses for personal interest, modular and/or conference courses. This is a temporary designation only and students in this category are limited to registration in five courses. To continue in studies past the fifth course, students must apply and be accepted into an academic program through another admission category. No assurance is given that courses taken as an unclassified student will apply to an academic program.
Visiting Student
Students enroled in a program at another post–secondary institution who present a Letter of Permission from their home institution may take the course(s) specified in the Letter of Permission. Visiting Students are not required to complete an application but may need to submit official transcripts to meet course pre-requisites.
Former Student
Former students who wish to re–enter Ambrose University College after an absence of one year must submit a completed Supplementary Application for Readmission for the program they wish to enter. Official transcripts of any post–secondary studies undertaken during such an absence are required.
Re-admitted students will be required to fulfil current degree program requirements. Students with a GPA of less than 2.00 will be re–admitted on academic probation. Before students may re–enter, their accounts must be paid in full. Please note that re–entry requirements do not apply to students who were absent on internship or onSite.
Dean's Recommendation
Dean’s Recommendation status may be granted to students who do not meet the normal admission requirements for Regular or Mature Student status, but who have received the approval of the relevant Academic Dean. Dean’s recommendation is a probationary status under which a College program may not be pursued until achieving Regular Student status. Such students achieve Regular Student status by attaining a minimum GPA of 1.5 in the first 12 credits in order to continue. Thereafter, they are subject to standard academic policies. Students who do not meet this criterion may not be allowed to return for the next semester.
