International Students
United States Applicants
Applicants from the United States (USA). may be considered for admission on presentation of:
- A full academic high school program, similar to the Alberta program, from an accredited high school, with five (5) senior matriculation level courses including English, and Mathematics or a second language, with a minimum overall average of 60% or higher on the five courses, and
- An ACT composite score of 17 or higher, or SAT I score of 830 or higher, or SAT Reasoning Test score of 1245 with no section test below 400.
An applicant from the USA must possess a valid Canadian Study Permit, or must be a landed immigrant. To obtain a Study Permit a student must present a letter of acceptance and evidence of sufficient funds or financial support for the school term to Canadian Consulate officials or to Canadian Immigration authorities at the point of entry into Canada. To avoid the possibility of a Study Permit being denied at the point of entry due to unanticipated circumstances, applicants should apply for a Study Permit at their nearest Canadian Consulate. Prospective students are advised to initiate the application procedure for Ambrose several months prior to their anticipated enrollment. The fee to process a Study Permit application is presently $125 (Cdn.), but is subject to change.
All USA students requiring student loans must complete Entrance and Exit Counseling.

United Kingdom and Commonwealth Countries
The General Certificate of Education is accepted as senior matriculation with standing in five subjects:
- at least two subjects at Advanced Level, one of which must be English;
- no more than three subjects at Ordinary Level.
A minimum overall grade of C is required and no subject is accepted below C grade.
Other International Applicants
Admission of students from other countries to any program requires completion of the equivalent of Alberta senior matriculation (Grade 12). In cases where the official high school transcript is in a language other than English, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide Ambrose with an official translation of the transcript.
All prospective students from countries other than Canada must possess a valid Canadian Study Permit and passport prior to entry to Canada, or be landed Canadian immigrants. Students must present their letter of acceptance at Ambrose to Canadian immigration officials. Prospective students are advised to begin the application process at least one year prior to anticipated enrolment.
Once accepted international applicants must obtain a Study Permit (governmental permission) to study in Canada. Students from some countries may also need to obtain a visitor's visa. These documents are available from any Canadian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate outside of Canada, and must be obtained before traveling to Canada. Students attempting to enter Canada without these documents may be refused entry and required to depart immediately.
The time needed to process the Study Permit varies from country to country; it is advisable to contact the nearest Canadian Embassy office as soon as the following documentation is available:
- Letter from Ambrose, confirming acceptance as a student.
- Proof of sufficient funds to pay for travel, living expenses, and all tuition costs. (What constitutes such proof may vary from country to country. For example, some may be asked to show a bank statement; others may be expected to submit a statement by a financial sponsor.)
- Valid passport, travel or identity items. The nearest Canadian office will confirm what documents are required; these will vary according to the applicant's country of citizenship.
- A medical exam may be required of some applicants.
- A personal interview may be conducted in some cases, depending on the student's country of origin.
- A processing fee. The fee to process a student authorization application is presently $125 (Cdn.), but is subject to change.
